Anyway, after that I started to go for temples trip. As I mentioned before in the last Ayudthaya trip's blog entry, there are temples all around Ayudthaya. Firstly, I decided to drop by 'Wat Tha-ka-rong' temple, which means 'river bank wear the crows sing'. The temple was built directly on the river bank and the people of Ayudthaya managed to protect the temple from the Burmese cannon balls, even though the most of it was burnt down by the Burmese army.
The most famous thing about this temple is the toilet. It was voted the best toilet in Thailand and voted the cleanest toilet of Buddhist toilet in Southeast Asia in a don't know what magazine. Few months ago, an organized 'World toilet meeting' conference here, I have no idea what the hell they wanna talk about. Maybe how to manage the cleanliness of the public toilets? LOL!
I was thinking of getting few shots of the toilet but it was too crowded. LOL! I promise few photos of the toilet next time.
The temple is decorated with flowers. Every inches of pathments is flower pots and shrubs of roses. You can find FREE drinks and snacks all arond the temple. The thing I enjoyed about this temple is that I got a chance to feed the fish in the river with FREE fish food. I spent almost an hour feeding the fish. LOL! Don't give me that look ok! I ended up donating money to the temple too. LOL! a pathetic 20 baht (S$0.80)!!
The weather is cooling~
The river bank where the crows sing?
After having fun feeding the fish there, I went to another temple nearby. It was only a 5 minutes drive. This is 'Wat YaiChaiMonkol'. The temple stood right i the middle of the city. It was built in the year 1357 and was renovated by King Naresuan in 1592. You can find lots and lots of ancient Thai arts and paintings here. It is one of the main attractions in Ayudthaya. If you have a chance to come to Ayudthaya, You'll love it here! Here are the photos..
I should wear Thai tradional clothings

After taking some photos around the temple, I got bored so I went to feed the fish again. LOL! I met this little girl who sells popcorn. She's very cute and talkative. I ended up buying lots of popcorn from her, and I ended up feeding the fish with those popcorn. I bought some bananas and feed the turtles too! I spent almost 200 baht (S$8) on feeding the animals. LOL!!

I drove straight into the city and there is one big big event of the year, The Ayudthaya World Heritage Fair (http://www.tourismthailand.org/happiness_events/detail.aspx?id=187). The event is organized in December every year. You can find lots of stuffs here, traditional food, wooden toys from 16th century, ancient clothings, traditional art pieces, etc. My girls are performing and I can't miss this chance. LOL! ok.. they're not my girls lar~. LOL! Can say that they're my juniors. They are the best Thai dancers in the school. That is why they have to dance for Ayudthaya Heritage Fair every year.
After dinner, I walked around the place with kaew and took some photos..

It was too late to drive back to Bangkok so I decided to stay overnight here in Ayudthaya. Fortunately, the girls' parents invited me to stay over at their place. It's very nice of them. It was the first time in 20 years that I slept in the 'mosquito net'. Love them so much!
Sorry I couldnt get any photos of them. Next time!!
Thank you the Sa-san family for the accommodation for the 3 days trip to Ayudthaya. ^^
Warwick Thumb Bolt
Listing price : US$2300
We decided to get microphones and a equaliser for our demo recording. I don't know how the heck that microphone shop manage their worker, We got to sit there for 3 hours just to wait for them to deliver 7 microphones from the shelf to us. Anyway, while waiting for those jackasses to collect the stuffs and bring to us, the shopkeeper allow us to try on the guitars. So we had a mini acoustic concert of our own. It was the first time I play acoustic guitar with Rex and we both agree to get a new acoustic guitar each. LOL! for what? I don't know.
We had lunch together as a band for the first time ever. After eating, Jiw got to rush back for lesson so he dropped us at Rex's house. We thought of continuing the recording but I ended up playing computer and he ended up smoking + chatting on phone with gf. I took a few shots of his room..

I went to meet them again on Sunday! haha. At least I got a chance to see them one more time before they go back to Singapore. So we met up at Chatuchak weekend market. It is very well known among Singapore shoppers. You can find everything here. Too much things to mention. You got to come here and take a look by yourself.
"Uncle, stand there not hot meh?"
Fried fishballs : S$1 per set

It's time to eat (again?)

I'm waiting for my fried fishballs.
"This is great!"
5.30pm : Leaving Chatuchak market and heading back to the hotel. Chat with Cat all the way back. I realised that it was the first time we sit together on bus and chat (since 2002). We took a pic and both of us agreed that we look crap. I won't be posting this pic up. ^^
6pm : Dinner at hotel with her family. I was not hungry at all. O_O
7.15pm : We took taxi to Chinatown. Along the road, you can find stalls selling food, desserts, drinks, snacks, etc. It's not expensive like what you're expected. I'm not lying. Haha. We ordered a bowl of shark fin. It's only S$20~ We took a few pics and I took a pic of them with a traffic police too~ haha.
This is Bangkok's chinatown!

Nerdy traffic police
Cheap ass shark fin soup?
8.30pm : Tuk Tuk ride to Silom road. I enjoyed myself all the way there!!
I rarely take Tuk Tuk around in Bangkok because I'm sick of bargaining with the driver. Luckily, this driver was easy to negotiate. So 5 of us squeezed into the 3-wheel taxi. WAHHHH~~~ we talked loudly all the way, I bet the driver must be pissed (at me) :D
Bargained 2 watched for Catherine and her dad. Yes, I bargained from 1800 baht (S$72) to 600 baht (S$24). LOL~ The shopkeeper looked a bit unhappy but who gives a shit. I don't. BIG haha. I was busy bargaining and window shopping. I forgot to take pics! SHIT!
10pm : Reached hotel safely~ haha. I had snacks n beer with the family in the room. Martin and I couldn't wait for Arsenal Liverpool match!! I'm an Arsenal fan and Martin is a Liverpool fan.

'The Long waited Thailand trip '06 Bangkok & Pattaya'
* If anyone is coming to Thailand, let me know. Please tell me in advance so that I can arrange the time with you (esp non-singaporeans) ^^

Yum!

ZZZzzz....

Don't ever try to take pics of others when you're driving! (like me)
6pm : Traffic sucks!!! We got in the traffic for almost an hour. ZZZ. Her dad was trying to keep me awake by chatting with me all the way. Thanks uncle~ ^^
7pm : บ้านกลางน้ำ - Baan Klang Nam. I booked a table for dinner at a restaurant. We got one of the best tables in the restaurant. We had a very big big meal. Crabs, scallops, squids, fish, etc. We had hard time trying to eat the crabs. It's a great place!! This place is highly recommended!! The food is great. The location is great. The restaurant is on the riverbank. I'm happy to see that they enjoy the meal to the max~!
Luckily, we got jimlim. She is a very good friend of mine~ this place is her aunt's so we somehow got a bit discount. This is the best dinner I had with ever in Bangkok.

"Nice lah~"

Lovely family~

Our 2nd pic since 2002
Took some photos and head to night market!
8.30pm : Suam Lum Night Bazaar. We walked around just to digest the food. LOL. Cat got stuffs for CK. Her brother got something for himself and I got some photos for everyone who visit this blog. ^^

Jimlim + me

Jimlim and Martin

Jimlim + Martin 2

We all can squeeze into a car~

Family photo taken by me

"Shoik lah!"
10.30pm : Frankly, I feel reluctant to leave them. I know they're tired. Yeah. I'm tired too. I don't know when I can see them again. Out of all visitors from Singapore, they are one of the best. It's sad to drop them at the hotel lobby.
I don't really enjoy shopping in Thailand, they sell sucky things to the tourists and it's too fuckin' expensive. I tried to bargain and bargain but you know~ it's not easy to bargain in shopping center. Those shopkeepers' faces are much thicker than mine. Damn!
But today is different. I enjoy shopping with her family a lot! They are not that type of typical grumbling and troublesome Singapore families on holiday. They don't complain about ANYTHING at all~ I love them!!!

"I give you!~"
To Cat : I told you before that if you were to come to Thailand, I'll give my best and do anything I can for you when you're here. It's for you and your family. Don't keep on saying '不好意思' anymore~ ^^ *wink*

World's largest freshwater fish
BBQ? Curry? Any suggestions?
After a record-breaking Mekong giant catfish died, residents of Hat Khrai, a Thai village on the Mekong River, butchered the fish for its meat.
"Mekong people believe it's a sacred fish, because it persists on plant matter and 'meditates'"—in the deep, stony pools of the Mekong River—"somewhat like a Buddhist monk, said Zeb Hogan, a fisheries biologist who studies the largest freshwater fish in the world. A WWF conservation fellow and National Geographic Society Emerging Explorer, Hogan has received funding from the National Geographic Society Conservation Trust.
Mekong giant catfish attract high prices in Thailand, because eating the fish is supposed to bring good luck. Likewise, the Chinese believe that catfish meat boosts intelligence and prolongs life."

----------------------------
I had a chance to try this catfish curry before.
It is somehow difficult to find this dish in any local restaurants as the fish is believedto be a sacred fish. But who gives a shit? Honestly, I don't.
The taste of catfish is really sweet! Similar to stingray~ Trust me~
